Cycling team Astana Pro is all set to hit the roads as soon as the season starts for 2014. In a recent event they revealed the riders who will be representing the team in this season. Apart from the team which they had last year there will be two new faces who will make a debut for Astana Pro this year and they are Lieuwe Westra from Netherlands and the other one is Michele Scarponi from Italy.
The management is confident that these two will be doing well for the team and they have the ability to go a long way in future. Both Westra and Scarponi were present when the team was officially presenting the riders. The event took place in Brescia, Italy.
The additions to the team will strengthen their base and the team is hoping to achieve new feats this season. The general manager of Astana Pro, Alexander Vnokourov said that he has set some objectives to the team and hopes that they will be able to fulfill that by the end of the season. Regarding the two new faces he said that he is looking forward to them featuring in the championships this season and thinks that they will definitely do well.
When asked about the season of 2013 he said that he was relatively pleased with the performance of the team but would expect something more this year. The team of Astana Pro won the Giro d Italia last year and also did superbly in Vuelta. He was particularly happy with Vincenzo Nibali who pulled off some close wins and got great finishes last season. The new general manager said that he has lot of expectations from the team and he is sure that they would not let him down. He was also asked about his plans for Tour de France to which he said that he is only planning to win it that’s it.
